COMMUNITY LIVING CAMP REPORT
As part of the third
semester BEd curriculum, we the students of Fathima Memorial Training College, were
required to attend a five day Community Living Camp named ‘Samanwayam’. All the
students, teachers and non – teaching staffs actively participated in the camp.
Our principal Dr. Anitha N. was the convener and all the other teachers gave us
necessary guidelines and also about the safety measures to be followed.
The theme of the camp is clearly
expressed in its title Samanwayam which means
unity. The camp was conducted from 27 January, 2024 to 31 January, 2024 in
our college. The camp days were flourished with a lot of new experiences,
adventures and journey.
It was the first day of
our community living camp. The inaugural session began by the blessings of the
Almighty. Alfiya R. from the department of Natural Science held the Fatiha and
the college choir sang the prayer song. Dr. Anitha welcomed the gathering.
Rithwick B. R., chairman of Agneya College Union delivered the presidential
address.
Sri. Abdul Rasheed N., IPS, Superintendent of Police, Traffic - South Zone, delivered the inaugural speech.
A solo song was sung by Ms. Divya R. Chandran, Assistant Professor, FMTC. Sri Shajahan Younus, Smt. Noorjahan Younus, Dr. Mini K. S., Sri. C, Sunilkumar, Dr. Vijayalekshmi N. S. and Ms. Jayakumary B. S. felicitated the program. The inaugural session came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Soumya Raj, Vice chairperson of Agneya College Union.
At 4:30 pm, all the
students, teaching and non - teaching staffs assembled together and our
principal, Dr. Anitha lighted and inaugurated the 'Paalukachal' ceremony.
At 5:00 pm, we had a tea-break. A total number of 100 students
participated in this camp, and they were divided into five groups : Group A,
Group B, Group C, Group D and Group E. Each day, each group was assigned to do
different duties such as cleaning, refreshment, organizing programmes,
maintaining discipline, purchasing food items and food preparation.
We had our
dinner at 8:00pm which was served by the members of Group E. After the dinner,
different cultural programmes were held. Group D cleaned the utensils after the
programme. With this the activities of the first day came to an end and
everyone went to bed at 10:00pm.
The second day of the camp began by
invoking the blessings of God. We woke up at 5:00 am. Then we did our
refreshment activities and all the students went to do their assigned works.
Then we had our bed- coffee. The attendance was taken by the teachers. We did
our physical activities at 6:00 am. By 7:00 am we all went to Kollam Beach for
cleaning and returned by 9:00 am. Then we had our breakfast and went for the
assembly.
On this day, we had a motivational talk on “Be Positive” by Mr. Renjith T., HR Trainer, Collectorate, Allapuzha. The resource person narrated motivational stories.
By 3:00 pm, we all assembled at the college auditorium for a skill traiing programme, “Digital Documentary Prepartion” which was conducted by Mr. Ajas S., IT Consultant, FMTC , Ms. Parvathy V. Prasad, Assistant Professor, FMTC and Ms. Rumaisa Beevi, Assistant Professor, FMTc. Mr. Ajas spoke about the digital documentary and its preparation with the help of slides.
By 6:00 pm, after having tea - break, the Agneya College Union conducted a “Treasure Hunt”. It was an adventurous one as all the students participated really well. Finally, the department of Social Science won the competition.
After the programmes
came to an end, we had our dinner and went to bed at 10:00 pm.
Day
3 – 29 January, 2024.
The third day of the
camp started as usual. On this day, by
10:00 am we had a motivational class which was conducted by Sri. Brahmanayakan
Mahadevan, an international trainer and motivational speaker. He spoke about
behavioural management, classroom management, importance of maintaining eye –
contact, aims of life and education. After the class we had our lunch and came
back to the auditorium to have an interactive session with the resource person.
In this session, he made us do some activities. The session was so good as it
taught us the value of human beings.
At 6:00 pm we had a
skill training programme by Sri. Sreeraj Parackal, Placement officer, TKM
Institute of Technology, Karuvelil, Kollam. He did mentalism with two students.
It was really an eye – catching session. After that we all gathered in the
ground to play some games. All the students actively participated in each
session and it was really an amazing one.
We also had a camp fire where we played lots of games. It was really a memorable one for all of us.
Later we had our dinner
and went to bed.
Day
4 – 30 January, 2024.
On the fourth day of
the camp, we had an “Awareness programme on Basic Life Support” by Mr. Dominic,
Station Officer, Fire and Rescue Services, Kollam. He not only gave us theory classes
but also practical sessions were included. He taught us how to provide CPR for
a baby as well as an adult. The different ways to carry an injured person, the
correct way of using a fire extinguisher etc. were also discussed. It was
really a fruitful session for all of us.
At 1:00 pm, post lunch,
we had a skill training programme by Mr. Jijo Jayachandran, Talent Curation
Executive, Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission, Government of Kerala. He took a
class on self – confidence and made us to do different types of activities to
develop self – confidence among us. The session ended at 4:30 pm. The session
was very useful for all the students.
By 7:00 pm, we had a
programme by “Anecdote” musical band. The programme was very entertaining for
all the students. The programme winded up by 10:00 pm.
After the programme, we
had our dinner and went to bed.
Day
5 – 31 January 2024.
This was the final day
of our camp programme. We packed our packs and got ourselves ready for the valedictory
session.
The Valedictory session began at 3:00 pm. The session started with a prayer by the college choir. Dr. Anitha welcomed the session and Rithwick (Chairman, Agneya College Union) delivered the presidential address. He also shared his experiences of the camp days. After that one student from each optional class shared their experiences of the camp.
The five day community
living camp, Samanwayam, organized as a part of Bed curriculum was a
successful one. It gave the teacher trainees an experience to take with them
for life. The camp was well organized with lots of fun and learning where
everyone participated actively to make it an effective as well as a productive
one.
