CONSCIENTIZATION PROGRAMME ( Topic : Conservation of Water)

 

       

                                

As part of the BEd curriculum, the teacher trainees were required to conduct a conscientization programme in our respective schools during the school internship phase. Prashanth J Francis and Roshni A Robin of English optional were the two teacher trainees who conducted the programme at Krist Raj HSS, Kollam. The topic of the programme was “Water Conservation”. It was conducted on 8 December, 2023 for Standard VIII.




The main objectives of this programme were to develop a deep awareness about the importance of water conservation, create a sense of sustainable living and to educate the learners about the different methods of water preservation and rain water harvesting. Another objective of this programme was to make the students realize the risk of water scarcity and harmful effects of water pollution.

The programme was conducted between 11:00 am – 12:00 pm for class VIII F and VIII G. The class teachers of these two classes were also present along with the students. The programme was conducted using PowerPoint presentation. The first session, based on the topic ‘The Importance of Water in our Daily Life and Future’ was clearly and orderly explained by me. 



The second session which was about the ‘Harmful Effects of Water Pollution and the Scarcity of Water’ was explained in detail by Prashanth. Then an activity was given to the students as part of the programme. The students were divided into groups and they were asked to prepare a poster based on water conservation.



Finally, Prashanth concluded the programme after collecting the feedback from the students. He also gave the vote of thanks.


The programme was very effective and successful. All the students actively participated during the programme. They were very interactive and also attentive. Through this programme, we were able to educate the students about the grave necessity to conserve water and also about the harmful effects of water pollution and water scarcity.
